Landsknecht

Subclass of Fighter

Old World's Might - Subclasses from Old Europe p. 32 (Homebrew)

Level
3

Description

Powerful veteran combatant

"A contract is my creed, but my blade is my master!"

Theme: Veteran warrior modeled by Renaissance German and Swiss mercenaries.

Playstyle: Offensive-focused with two-handed weapons.

The term Landsknecht is derived from Middle High German and Middle Low German. Knecht means "servant." A Landsknecht is, therefore, a servant of the land. In its original context, it is difficult to see how this word would do the soldiers justice. It does not conjure up images of deadly fighters. In 1486, the first units of Landsknechts were raised. These early units did not have the brightly colored clothing for which the Landsknechts became known. In fact, one of these units was named the Black Guard and served for many decades after its founding. Landsknecht troops were drawn mainly from poorer classes in society, although it was not uncommon for nobles to take up positions as officers.

Traits

Zweihander Master Nivel 3

When you hit a creature with a melee weapon that has the Heavy property, you can deal half as much damage to another creature within 5 feet of the target. When wielding a melee weapon with the Heavy property, you can use your Reaction to add +2 to your AC against one melee attack that would hit you.

Mercenary's Expertise Nivel 7

When you make an attack with a Heavy weapon as part of the Attack Action, you can add your Proficiency Bonus to the damage roll.

Imposing Presence Nivel 10

You can use a Bonus Action to force each creature of your choice that can see or hear you within 10 feet of you to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Strength modifier). Failure: Frightened condition until the end of your next turn. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a Short or Long Rest.

Relentless Advance Nivel 15

Once per turn, if you reduce a creature to 0 hit points, you can immediately move up to 10 feet without provoking Opportunity Attacks and make another melee weapon attack as part of the same Action.

Master of Carnage Nivel 18

Your melee weapon attacks with Heavy Weapons score a critical hit on a roll of 18-20. Additionally, when you score a critical hit, you can make one additional attack against the same target.
