Description
The creation of this ring predates the birth of most beings that live in the lands of Zamanora. Its exquisite craftsmanship is unparalleled, while the lemniscate curves of its shape resemble the symbol of infinity. Within the ring dwells the ageless spirit of a Balaur. The first time you touch it, you must succeed on a DC 20 Charisma saving throw, or be compelled to wear it. While wearing it, you can telepathically communicate with the spirit through conveying simple feelings, while your consciousness begins to eerily blend with its own. When attuned to it, you gain the following benefits:
- You can understand and speak Draconic.
- You gain blindsight out to a range of 60 feet.
- Your Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma scores are replaced with those of the balaur (unless already higher), according to its corresponding monster statistics.
Curse. Once you wear this ring, you can't remove it unless you are targeted by a Remove Curse spell or similar magic. The Balaur's spirit has been imprisoned inside the ring for eons as per the spell Imprisonment (minimus containment option) and is secretly scheming an escape from its eternal confinement. Each time you fail a Death Saving Throw, you must also make a DC 20 Charisma saving throw, as the spirit suddenly wrestles you over the control of your body. On a success, you manage to withstand its attempts. On a failed save, the balaur's spirit possesses your body, while your own spirit becomes trapped inside the ring in place of its own. Once that happens, your possessed body regains 1 Hit Point. Its statistics are otherwise those of the Balaur, as if it has used the Shape Change trait to polymorph into you.
